    202 Global Special Humanitarian Visa

The Australia 202 visa, also known as the Global Special Humanitarian visa, offers a pathway to permanent residency in Australia. It grants individuals the opportunity to live, work, and study indefinitely in the country.

Once application is approved, you are allowed to enter the country to become a permanent resident and have the option to pursue Australian citizenship if eligible. This visa also extends benefits such as availing of Australia’s public healthcare system, accessing free English language classes through the Adult Migrant English Program, and sponsoring other family members for permanent residence.

Applications for the Special Humanitarian Program are prioritised based on specific groups:

    • Immediate family members (partner, dependent child, or proposer’s parent if under 18 years old) who were granted as Class XB visa or are Australian citizens with a Protection or Resolution of Status visa
    • Applicants not meeting the split-family criteria and whose family members do not hold a Protection or Resolution of Status visa
    • Proposer is an extended family (grandparent, grandchild, cousin, aunt, uncle, niece, or nephew) and does not hold a Protection or Resolution of Status visa
    • Proposer is a distant relative, friend, or a community organisation that does not hold a Protection or Resolution of Status visa
    • Proposer holds a Protection or Resolution of Status visa

The Global Special Humanitarian visa subclass 202 is valid within five years. Once granted, your visa will allow you to travel to and from Australia within the said validity period. You may need to secure a Resident Return authority if you enter the country after your 202 visa has expired.

    202 Visa Australia Requirements

    • Human rights situation: You must be subject to substantial discrimination in your home country, constituting severe violation of human rights
